WGCADA was started in 1979 by
the founder members who were, among others Mr Alan Douglas and Dr
Allan Hawkins.
The first premises was a small room above a gent's tailors in the
Uplands. Over the years it has grown into a much bigger
organisation, with our new premises based at St James Crescent.
The staff now number more than eighty, plus we have a growing number
of volunteers and the organisation is expanding all the time. In
addition to our Swansea and Port Talbot premises, we have now opened
agencies in Neath and Bridgend.
WGCADA's staff have considerable experience, expertise and training
in working with people with alcohol and drug problems. The goal
of all our centres is to help people with alcohol and drugs problems
to lead a more fulfilled life. The organisation also helps those
who are affected by someone who has substance misuse problems such
as family members and friends.
Last year 2009 WGCADA celebrated 30 years of successfully delivering services to help individuals affected by substance misuse, their families and the wider communities.
This year we have lots of exciting fund raising events, the very brave Susan Cranmer is going to be doing a sponsored sky diving jump raising funds for WGCADA on Saturday 26th June. For further information and to help by donating please visit: www.justgiving.com/suzydomino
