Procedure for Volunteering Application

Please click here for a volunteer registration form that can be completed and returned to us.

  1. Volunteers are asked to apply in writing initially to:
Volunteer Coordinator, WGCADA, 46 Talbot Road, Port Talbot, SA13 1HU expressing their interest to volunteer, an expression of interest by telephone (01639 890863) or E-mail (volcord@wgcada.co.uk) is acceptable.
  2. An application form will be sent to the applicant for them to complete and return to the Volunteer Coordinators office at their earliest convenience. When their application is returned the form will be added to a waiting list for selection onto the volunteer training programme.
  3. Applicants will be required to attend a volunteer workshop as the first part of the selection process. Applicants who have attended the workshop will then be considered for interview. Suitable references will be required prior to interview taking place.
  4. Applicants who have been successful in the interview will receive a letter informing the commencement of the volunteer training programme. Enhanced Criminal Bureau Checks will then be undertaken.
  5. The volunteer training programme consists of a series of training modules. Before any placement is considered applicants will be required to attend the first 3 introductory modules. Once these are completed consideration will then be given to providing an indirect volunteering placement within our organisation.
  6. Further modules are then required to be undertaken for those wishing to progress to increased levels of responsibility within the agency and will be provided in line with developmental need and candidate suitability. These modules can be categorised into mandatory and optional requirements.
  7. When volunteers have received the appropriate training we will do our best to place applicants in the area that they most wish to volunteer in.
  8. On commencement of the volunteer training programme each applicant will be asked to complete a Criminal Records Bureau Application form, and only when the CRB disclosure has been returned and is satisfactory and suitable character references are provided will the applicant start to volunteer with WGCADA.
