WGCADA IN THE PRESS

£1m lottery windfall

January 17th 1996

Swansea today received a £1 million windfall form the National Lottery Charities Board.

The organisation Announced grants of almost £9 million for Wales and Swansea has benefited with 16 grants for various causes totalling £1,067,341.

The West Glamorgan Forum will get £340,728, the Christian Lewis Trust receives £131,178 and the Family Support Group for people with learning and physical disabilities gets £107,223.

Other organisation set for a happy Christmas include Away days, Mumbles Old People's Welfare Association, Parents In Partnership, Swansea and District young Stroke Club, Swansea Women's Resource and Training Centre, Townhill Community Centre, West Glamorgan Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, West Glamorgan Deaf Children's Society, BICTA, the Friendship House Gateway Club, Lliw Valley Women's Aide, Pontarddulais Hendy Disabled and the Church of the Holy Name Mission to the Deaf.

Chairman of the board David Sieff said: "these projects will benefit hundreds of people by tackling some of the causes of poor health, promoting good health and care and empowering disabled people.
