League of Friends Fundraising Events 2007
Caledonian MarketWe held our first Caledonian Market of the year at the Ostreme Centre, Mumbles, on the 19th May this year. It was due to the support of the volunteers who have gone through treatment with us and are prepared to give their time back to the Centre that we had enough (wo)man power to run 4 (!) stalls. A big thank you to all who helped. Thanks also to everyone who contributed bric-a-brac and a special thanks to both Swansea and Neath cookery classes who made our mouths water with their delicious cakes and bakes. Sponsored WalkWe will have another Market later in the year so look out for the posters in the centre. We have yet to set a date for our Sponsored Walk, but it will start, as usual, from the Dylan Thomas statue and finish at the Mumbles. Refreshments will be provided for all walkers and, as usual, a fun Auction will be “conducted” by Fred in the Ostreme Centre after we have all got our breaths back. Sponsor sheets for the walk will be available in all our centres in plenty of time for you to get Sponsors for your “stroll” around the Bay. This event is proving a popular opportunity for clients to mix socially, compare notes and take another step towards health. Flag DaysOur Flag Days are an important way for us to not only to raise money for future projects, but also to help raise awareness of the work of W.G.C.A.D.A. For the day to be successful we need many volunteers, so please find it in your hearts to give back a couple of hours of your time to sit with a collecting tin at one of our designated collection points in and around Swansea. Transport and refreshments will be provided. This year our Flag Day is on the 22nd September. Auction PromisesThe Auction of Promises will take place on Friday September 28th at the Lord Mayors Mansion House. Items up for Auction so far include:} the use of a metal detector for two weeks, a Thai meal cooked in your own home and an aromatherapy massage. Do you have a skill or an item that you are willing to be auctioned? If you want to come along and bid, or just enjoy the evening, tickets are £10.00 and include musical entertainment and a buffet. Quiz NightsThe Port Talbot Quiz Night last year was a great success. As yet, we don’t have a date for this years Quiz, but we are thinking October/November. We are always open to fresh ideas and interesting ways to make money for all who use the centres. Let your voice be heard!
